Massive Thunderstorms Overnight

The Ampezzo valley received a welcome cooldown Thursday evening with a massive thunderstorm pulling through and crashing against the mountains above. Strong rain, hail and lots of lighting and thunder lit up the night sky and mountain faces above the town. The 20K runners were subjected to some of the worst of it and a small landslide temporarily closed off the main road into town. Luckily the following morning for the start of the 50K we’re greeted by blue skies, cooler temps, and clear air.
