Retired German Ironman champion will be toeing the line at UTMB – OCC this year, via his blog “Frodissimo Times“:
In August, I’ll toe the line at the OCC UTMB- 56 kilometers of steep, rocky beauty from Orsières to Chamonix. I’ve long heard of the Mecca of trail running and figured I should see it at least once. It’s trail running in its most honest form: altitude, suffering, scenery, and an uncomfortable number of descents that would make a mountain goat reconsider its life choices.
Always fun to read how athletes competing in other disciplines view ‘trail running”.
Frodeno raced a UTMB 10K earlier in the year at the Trail 100 Andorra, but it’s unclear how he got the stones/qualification to get into OCC? Special brand/organizer consideration?
