In 2024, I became the first Latin American runner to step onto the podium at the biggest trail running race in the world—UTMB. It’s been over six months now, and I still find myself, on an ordinary day, out on a run, suddenly hit with memories that feel completely surreal—like a movie, a dream, or a story I made up in my head to visualize myself there one day. But no, it’s real.

But I want this sport to become more diverse and inclusive. I want Latin American runners on the UTMB start line to feel worthy of being there, to know without a doubt that they can achieve great things. I want the best Latin American runners—men and women—to stand in the front row with their heads held high, never feeling like they are less than anyone else.
