Bear Gulch Fire: 100% Contained, Still Smoldering

This post (almost) closes this chapter of the summer here in my home mountains. The fire started in early July, forced me to cancel my Beast of Big Creek event, and is now mid-November finally considered to be 100% contained. Many of the trails are still not open as the aftermath of the fire created lots of unsafe conditions and landslides are expected. Plus, the fire isn’t even 100% out yet, there are places in Olympic National Park where embers are still smoldering.

Also: I just found out that the fire earned itself its own Wikipedia entry.
