iRunFar’s Best Trail Running Shoes of 2025

Bryon Powell shares iRunFar’s list of this year’s best trail shoes – so far.

Winning the top crown is the HOKA Speedgoat 6 with the runner up being the Nike Pegasus Trail 5.

I’m not a shoe tester and therefore am not in a place to pass judgement on that list but what strikes me is that none of the much-hyped carbon-plated super shoes made the list and there’s also no new-to-the-market niche brand mentioned (No Speedland, no Norda, no Mountain to Coast, no Satisfy).

Most notably missing is the shoe that been sold out everywhere all year long: the La Sportiva Prodigio Pro. Maybe they couldn’t get their hands on a pair?
