UPDATED – see below for more information.

Matt Walsh (Trailmix) shared a screenshot on his Instagram (just in his IG stories, and while I’m linking to it here it will most likely have disappeared by the time you read this) of what looks like meeting minutes of the general meeting of the UTMB group from early August. The document outlines the resolution approving the resignation of both Catherine and Michel from their respective positions for the organization they founded many years ago. (And I’m not an expert in reading these sort of docs, so I hope I represent and summarize this development correctly here.)

If this document proves to be real, and I have an email in to the UTMB press office requesting more information on this, then this is a massive piece of news worth talking about A LOT more.

The document provides a bunch more information and prompts a lot more questions… like who will be their successor and if there any other strategic changes planned, but until I received official word that this indeed is true I will keep myself from commenting further.

But man, this is (potentially) massive news. And not a word on any of this during UTMB week on this. Wow.

UPDATE: I spoke to the UTMB press office about this, and was told the explanation for this decision as followed:

  1. The documents that was screenshotted and the information taken from it is real.
  2. The motion at UTMB’s last board meeting was a formality that switched the roles from the Polettis as individuals to Poletti & AssociĆ©s – a legal entity, owned and operated by the Polettis, but still fulfilling the roles on the board.
  3. There’s no major changes just a company registration change.

I’ll have more thoughts on this in the coming days, but this above, is the official explanation for what seemed like a massive deal, but is in fact just some normal business maneuvering.
