PTL is such a hard race, and a difficult one to cover. The team race of 2-3 people, covering 300 kilometers and over 25,000 meters of vertical gain and loss over unmarked terrain without any official aid stations is a beast of an event and not one for the faint of heart – or inexperienced mountain runner. In 2025 there were 119 teams at the starting line and an amazing 89 finished the event. Seeing runners come into Chamonix after their adventure around the mountains of the Mont Blanc massif is a beautiful sight – everyone in town stands up from the pizza or cappuccino and claps and cheers these runners home. It truly celebrates the pinnacle of the spirit of our sport.

For more UTMB 2025 coverage visit my dedicated UTMB World Series page. For full results visit the UTMB website, below are the teams:

  1. Alpsxperience – Switzerland – 78:00:50
  2. Les Volatiles – Switzerland – 98:17:24
  3. Petits Trotteurs de Llandudno – South Africa/Netherlands – 98:17:26

The Swiss Alpsxperience team with Candide GABIOUD and Jules-Henri GABIOUD followed up their win from last year and finished in an incredible 20 hours ahead of the second place (and over 22hrs ahead of their time from last year!).

  • The first mixed-gender team PIANO B from Italy arrived back in Chamonix in 103:14:25.
  • The only all-women team, the Les Aravissantes from France made it in 145:52:38.

I’m just over here trying to come up with a really cool team name – that’s the most important thing, right?
