Rachel Entrekin Wants to Run Hardrock

Rachel is currently winning every race she enters and she really really wants to try her luck at Hardrock. So she wrote an open letter to run director Dale Garland:

I know, I know. The lottery. But, you see: for years, I assumed that I would probably suck on this course, or spend upwards of 40 hours wandering hopelessly around, unable to properly fuel, breathe, use trekking poles, or move forward in a way that even remotely resembled running. Recently, however, I’ve discovered that I am surprisingly good at doing races that are quite difficult, meaning the race I assumed I would have at Hardrock might actually be right up my alley, and also hopefully filled with more running and competition than I thought I was capable of.

Her blog post is hilarious and well worth your time. I have no insight in what persuades Dale to let someone bypass the lottery and run the race under his ‘special consideration’ entry, but Hardrock isn’t Barkley, so this might just work, in fact, I hope it does.
