Alright, this is something different, and oh so European.
The Trail by Train Tour (TTT) brings together events that are concerned with preserving the environment. What makes them special? Their starting points are all close to a train station.
This project shares and promotes races that are easily (and without car!) accessible by train. Currently there are 13 races on the calendar, all in Europe and each one comes with a custom map of how to get via train to the nearest to the start station and from there to the starting line. It event has a ranking showing the ‘train takers’ who travelled the most miles to the respective races they participated in.
So very very European.
