UTMB just posted the entry fees for their 2025 World Series Finals in Chamonix. Unsurprisingly the prices increased over the last years. Here are the prices as outlined on the UTMB website:
- UTMB : 439,00€
- CCC : 285,00€
- OCC : 179,00€
- TDS : 290,00€
- MCC : 95,00€
- ETC : 59,00€
- YCC Juniors : 48,00€
- YCC Cadets : 45,00€
- YCC Minimes : 35,00€
- PTL : 1600,00€
The fees include VAT at 20%, the registration fee includes an environmental tax of 1.5 euros per person to cover the cleaning, setting up and maintenance of the trails, as well as 13 euros for membership of the Friends of the UTMB association for 2025. The fees include all the services as per current regulations.
An additional administration fee of 8% will be charged. This administration fee is non-refundable in case of cancellation.
I chose to add the full description of the prices that includes a bit of an explainer or justification of what is all considered. Important to note that these prices still see the 8% admin fee on top of it. Which adds another €35 to the UTMB fee.
Below are the prices of each Finals event compared to last year
Year | UTMB | CCC | OCC |
---|---|---|---|
2023 | €355 (US $375) | €220 (US $232) | €135 (US $143) |
2024 | €398 (US $429) | €250 (US $264 ) | €155 (US $164) |
2025 | €439 (US $464) | €285 (US $301) | €179 (US $189) |
We see about a €40 increase year over year for UTMB, €30 for CCC and €20 for CCC. Including the 8% admin fee this puts the entry fee for UTMB for the first time over $500. Some might say you can’t put a price on the experience in Chamonix, and I sort of must agree with them.
Here is how these prices compare to some of the biggest/most popular races in the US (which unsurprisingly seems to be leading the way in how high entry fees for trail running events can go).
Race1 | 2025 | 2024 |
---|---|---|
UTMB | $464 | $429 |
Western States | $475 | $425 |
Hardrock 100 | $435 | $435 |
Javelina Jundred | $5102 | $480 |
Leadville 100 | $450 | $425 |
High Lonesome | $4653 | $450 |
Hood Hundred | $403 | $435 |
Canyons by UTMB | $446 | $399 |
Clearly prices for races are going up across the board. Growth in our sport and general inflation can be used to explain some (most) of it. UTMB is not (yet!) the most expensive race on the annual calendar of events, but also clearly an outlier if you compare it to other big European events. Trying to find something positive here is this rat race to (inevitably) $1,000 in entry fee does create a pricing umbrella which gives other races the opportunity to undercut the market leaders, charge less and attract runners by being significantly cheaper.
