UTMB’S Mobility Plan Takes Effect for 2026

Initially announced back in June of last year, just ahead of the lottery for the UTMB Finals in 2026 the team shares some more details on how this all will work and how this affects folks wanting to come to Chamonix this summer:

Starting with the 2026 edition, the way you travel to the Mont-Blanc valleys can make a difference to your chances of taking part in the event. When pre-registering, commit to choosing one of the lowest-carbon routes, without using a car, and benefit from a 30% bonus in the lottery draw (rules defined by the organization and detailed on our website).

This will feel complicated for a sec, and yes, some people will complain but we will get used to it and it will all work out fine. As I wrote back then:

I want to respect UTMB’s perspective and attempt at a solution here. I want to be a guest in Chamonix again soon and I am fortunate enough that these new policies aren’t prohibiting me – either ideologically or financially – from going back again.
