The Logbook for the Trail Running World

Just a month until the new Skyrunner USA National Series kicks off. Four incredible races invite you to touch the sky: Whiteface Skyrace, Beast of Big Creek, Skeetawk Skyline Scramble, Kismet Cliff Run.

Speaking of athlete announcements on Instagram, after last year’s doping allegations against Norwegian trail running Stian Angermund, this one came as a surprise:

On Christmas Eve (December 24), I received a settlement offer from the French Anti-Doping Association (AFLD). They are offering a 16-month suspension, which would mean that if I accept, my suspension would be over immediately, as I’ve already served 16 months during this long process of proceedings.

Despite this, I’m aiming for a strong 2025, with new possibilities, new goals, and hopefully new sponsors?

UTMB never stripped Angermund off his OCC win from 2023. Now the case seems to be settled and he’s ready to race again. Dylan Bowman in the comments on Stian’s Instagram post:

Can’t wait to see you back!! Sorry for what you’ve gone through.

Stian is 38 years old now. Will he find his way back to the top? Will sponsors come back to support him? How will the rest of the running community respond?
