Co-race director of the Broken Arrow Skyrace Ethan Veneklasen tells the story of how a swiss cowbell made it’s way to Palisades Tahoe in a Facebook post:
Pull up a comfy chair and grab a cup of hot chocolate, because it’s time for my annual re-telling of, “The Story of the Bell”.
When I ran Broken Arrow in 2018 I not just heard the bell as we ran through the village, Ethan also told me the first half of the story in person at the finish line. I have not seen the new, larger, more amazing bell, but stories like these are what makes trail running special, heck, these moments of humanity is what makes life special.
