A news update that hasn’t made in on UltraSignup News page but was posted on their Instagram feed.
Among the usual live feed offerings we’ll get commentary by Corrine Malcolm and Dylan Bowman, the official, (and only and ever-present voices) of ultra running livestreams in the US.
The livestream stuff seems it be really taking over. It’s the ‘pivoting to video’ of the ultra media landscape. Will it stick? Is it worth it for advertisers? Are people tuning in? Will this turn runners into spectators? All this remains to be seen.
One thing that is becoming clear is that potential sponsors are interested in betting on ‘live coverage’ ad placement over ‘post race podcast/video’ placement. That is definitely an interesting development and worth watching.
