UPDATE: All these posts have now been deleted.

Aside from the question if it was okay for Camille to share the slides, we do get some transparency and insight into what was discussed and what the main concerns were.

  • Accessibility of the Finals and the general World Series events for elite athletes.

It seems like the stone system might be working for average runners, but not so much for the Pros.

  • Questions about “Whistler situation”.

If this was addressed head on then we will hear a lot more about it in the coming days.

  • Pro athletes still aren’t clear about how the qualification works and are wishing representation in the organization.

If this happens, then UTMB World Series will become the de facto global world championships.

  • The continued environmental concerns were brought up.

It’s an important aspect, and I think it’s a good idea for the PTRA to continue to stress this very real and global concern, but this is also something where the athletes are basically asking UTMB for help and aren’t just there to hold them accountable.

  • UTMB plans to expand to ~70 events over the course of the next 7-9 years.

In 2022 they launched with 25 events. In less than two years, the added 16 more. That’s roughly 8 new events per year. These new numbers would suggest them slowing their expansion to about half.

Camille summarized it posts:

It sounds like there’s growing pains, a lot of disconnect, and working out kinks with so many changes/growth.

A lot of disconnect and growing pains which has been exasperated by a toxic online discourse and the ‘us vs. them‘ mentality. Let’s see how some of the elites are going to respond to this meeting and any action items that results from it.
