‘Dirtbag Billionaire’

Brand new book, this time about Yvon Chouinard, rather than by him:

New York Times reporter and bestselling author David Gelles reveals how Patagonia became a global leader in doing well by doing good and how other companies are adopting its principles.

I haven’t read it yet, but this could go either of two ways: Either it’s a book written for the mainstream full of stories and insight, that us, the “dirt baggers” are already aware of and it’s sort of boring. Or this NYT author has a way of getting behind the scenes and uncovers some stories the usual Patagonia-lover might’ve overlooked or is themselves too close to pick up. In any case, it’s a book on my must-read pile on my night table. If you’re interested in outdoor business this will be a must-read. Get it from your local bookstore though, and not from Amazon (unless you want to make me rich, then use my affiliate link).
