Judge Dismisses Camille’s Lawsuit Against Canadian Running

Judge Rosemary Marquez of the District Court for the District of Arizona granted the company’s motion to dismiss the suit, on the grounds that the court has no jurisdiction to hear the case in Arizona, since the company does not have business there.  

This was only the first of several lines of defence brought by the company; the judge did not consider the others, which included, among other things, that the allegations in the article are true (and therefore not libellous), and that the suit violates Arizona’s anti-SLAPP legislation (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation), which protects free speech.

For any folks who love being rule followers by nature this should come as no surprise – there was never a case to begin with.
