Liam’s Post UTMB Data Dump

Liam Tryon shares some data from this year’s UTMB race. Here are my favorite bits:

  • 88 countries represented on the start line. Countries with the first ever starters from that country include: Afghanistan (Fatima Painda), Benin (Rockys Akli), Jamaica (Graham Taylor), Madagascar (Tahirinirina Jeannot Avotraniaina), Mongolia (Amarsanaa Enkhtsetseg), Pakistan (Usman Rafi), Puerto Rico (Jose Manuel Rivera Diaz) and Vanuatu (Belinda Strid).
  • Ruth Croft joins Xavier Thevenard as the only other athlete to have won OCC, CCC and UTMB in their career.

These two data points perfectly encapsulate what UTMB is all about: a race for the amateurs as much as for the elites.
