“Make Trail Running an Olympic Sport”

Salomon is all in. They are promoting and lobbying to have trail running become an Olympic Sport.

At this year’s Golden Trail World Series Finale in Valle di Ledro, Trentino, Italy Salomon, owners of the GTWS, had banners all over the finish line chute with the slogan: ‘Make Trail Running an Olympia Sport‘.

Aside from the fact that any slogan with the “Make something something” has lots of negative connotations here in the US, it’s an interesting move by Salomon trying to position themselves at the forefront of this movement. Salomon is not alone, Merrell inked an open letter back in April of 2024 petitioning the IOC to consider trail running to become an Olympic Sport.
