On my long run today I thought of one more list of results add to my coverage of this year’s World Trail and Mountain Running Championships. And yes, another list I haven’t found anywhere or anyone else talking about.
These are the Top Athletes of WMTRC’25:
- The Top Runner, and only athlete winning 3 medals total with 1 indv. GOLD + 2 Team GOLD is Philemon Ombogo KIRIAGO – MEN – KENYA (Individual: Classic, Team: Classic, Uphill)
- The second most decorated runner and only athlete winning two individual medals, both Gold is Nina ENGELHARD – WOMEN – GERMANY (Individual: Classic, Uphill)
- Tove ALEXANDERSSON – WOMEN – SWEDEN won the individual Gold in Short Trail and the same medal (Gold) in the Team category of the same race.
- Titus MUSAU – MEN – UGANDA won the individual Gold in the U-20 race and the same medal (Gold) in the Team category of the same race.
- Rémi BONNET – MEN – SWITZERLAND won the individual Gold in the Uphill race and the Silver medal in the Team category of the same race.
- Frédéric TRANCHAND – MEN – FRANCE won the individual Gold in the Short Trail race and the Silver medal in the Team category of the same race.
- Katie SCHIDE – WOMEN – USA won the individual Gold in the Long Trail race and the Silver medal in the Team category of the same race.
- Jim WALMSLEY – MEN – USA won the individual Gold in the Long Trail race and the Silver medal in the Team category of the same race.
There were 17 other athletes that won an individual medal and also a Team medal for a total of 25 athletes walking away from WTMRC’25 with two medals. 60 individual medals were handed out for the 5 races and 135 athletes in total walked away with at least a single medal.

Short Trail Race:
- Men: 198 starters, 171 finishers (27 DNFs)
- Women: 162 starters, 112 finishers (50 DNFs)
Long Trail Race:
- Men: 179 starters, 147 finishers (32 DNFs)
- Women: 124 starters, 88 finishers (36 DNFs)
Classic Race:
- Men: 142 starters, 136 finishers (6 DNFs)
- Women: 112 starters, 110 finishers (2 DNFs)
U20 Race:
