No better way to celebrate the July 4th weekend than bringing skyrunning back to the US. This past weekend the National Series had its kickoff event at Whiteface, as part of the Whiteface Mountain Races, organized by Red Newt Racing. It’s the first of four stops in the Series.

Robin Vieira Brower (Bend, OR) and Morgan Elliott (Salida, CO) take the win. Both runners will be at Beast in a few weeks.

Here are the results (pulled from UltraSignup):

Women:

  1. Robin Vieira Brower – Bend, OR – 3:24:26
  2. Cayla Kolbe – Downingtown , PA – 4:06:04
  3. Patty Higgins – York, ME – 5:10:52

Men:

  1. Morgan Elliott – Salida, CO – 2:48:32
  2. Fyn Kynd – Farmington, ME – 3:08:44
  3. Conor Callahan – San Francisco, CA – 3:13:08

No announcement has been made on how the scoring for this Series will work – I’ll update once I find out more.

The second stage is Rock Candy Running’s Beast of Big Creek – also the only stop in all of North America on the Skyrunner World Series – the field is stacked, but bibs are still available. Join us and come race Mount Ellinor in the Olympic Mountains in Washington State.
