“Skyrunning is Mountain Sport”

This is an interesting snippet out of Egon Theiner’s interview on the German language ‘Trail Running World‘ blog with Marino Giacometti, founder of the International Skyrunning Federation. Giacometti says:

Trail running, as you say, is assigned to World Athletics. Our connection to the UIAA exists because skyrunning is a mountain sport, not athletics.
