Part of the World Trail Majors, Swiss Canyon Trails adds for the first time a 100 M distance for 2025, or rather a 166km race with of 8,147 m of vert.
An exclusive distance to celebrate 30 years of the Swiss Canyon Trail. 100 miles of endurance and self-mastery, crafted for the most seasoned athletes! With an elevation gain of 8,147 m, this course awaits you for a journey you’ll never forget.
Registration opens December 1. Race day is June 6th.
This announcement comes after Zugspitz Ultratrail added a 100 mile distance for 2025 earlier in the year. The ZU100 is 164km and has 8,302 m of vert. Registration opens Nov. 13, race day is June 12th.
Previously European trail events weren’t targeting a specific distance but rather followed a trail or route that was historic, iconic, or just naturally beautiful. I wonder if this interest in the 100 Mile races, a rather arbitrary number for Europeans using the more sensible metric system, a response to the ever-growing popularity of UTMB?
