The Most Extreme Experience in The Alps

Südtirol Ultra Skyrace calls itself that, which seems like a big proclamation and I bet a few other races would want to claim that title, but either way, this race is worth putting on your radar. As TOR is the neighbor to UTMB, the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace is the neighbor to Lavardo Ultra Trail in the Dolomites further east in the Northern Italian Alps.
The longest race in their offering has about the same distance as Lavaredo with 119km, with a whopping 26K ft of vert. Since 2013 the race starts in beautiful Bolzano about 2hrs north of the Lavaredo course and finishes in Sarnthein.
Südtirol Ultra Skyrace just announced Red Bull as one of their main sponsors which makes me wonder if Red Bull is starting to pick up on trail racing blowing up and wanting to be a bigger player in the sport. I don’t hate it, Red Bull seems to have unlimited cash milked from sugary, bubble cans of energy.
