‘State of Trail Running Report’

Authored by Tom Matlack and Mikey Yablong, this report as been making the rounds and I thought I’d post it here:

This project was born out of our passion for trail running and a genuine desire to give back to a community that’s given us so much. Recognizing a gap in comprehensive data on trail runners’ habits, motivations, and economic impact, we undertook an extensive study to shed light on this vibrant, growing ecosystem.

The report is over 100 slides of information and data. I browsed through it but haven’t had much of a take on it yet. Some of the photos used look like AI slop, which makes me sad. Some of the take-aways leave me saying “yeah, well duh…”. But on a high level, of course putting something together like this is great, can be used in various business pitches and is in general a good thing. I will add more thoughts as I pull any interesting nuggets out…
