UTMB Adds One More Event In China with Ultra-Trail Shudao

China is clearly a hugely booming trail running market and the UTMB World Series is adding one more event to their calendar and this region:

A new adventure awaits trail runners in the heart of China’s ancient mountains as Ultra-Trail Shudao by UTMB® makes its debut on the UTMB® World Series calendar from 8-9 November 2025. With 100K, 50K, and 20K distances, participants will explore cloud-wrapped rice terraces, alpine meadows, steep ridgelines and ancient post roads – a living museum shaped by nature, time and tradition.

After a bit of a lull last year UTMB seems to be firing on all cylinders with five new events announced just this year.

Interesting to note how these last two new events differ in naming convention. In non-USA markets the naming “location + ultra trail” seems to be way more popular than in the US.
