The World Series travels to Japan for the Kaga Spa Trail Endurance 100 for the first time. Around the hot spring resort in Yamanaka Onsen three races were held in the 100K, 50K, and 20K category. All podium placements below, full results to follow.

Below are the numbers broken down by distance and gender:

  • Kaga Spa 100 Starters: 1,164. DNF: 709 + Finishers: 455. Women 67 (15%), Men 388 (85%).
  • Kaga Spa 50 Starters: 902. DNF: 250 + Finishers: 652. Women 188 (29%), Men 464 (71%).
  • ‌Kaga Spa 20 Starters: 471. DNF: 2 + Finishers: 469. Women 212 (45%), Men 257 (55%).

Kaga Spa Trail Endurance 100 by UTMB saw a total 2,537 starters and 1,576 finishers. That’s a massive number of DNF’s – probably one of the highest in the entire Series! 467 (29%) women and 1,109 (71%) men reached the finish line and earned themselves their respective stones and an UTMB index (or directly punched their ticket to the Finals in Chamonix for 2025).


Next weekend is the La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail in Cortina d’Ampezzo Italy on 25-29, 2025. I’ll be racing the 120K, so expect a bit of delay in coverage. Also on for that weekend is the Western States Endurance Run in California, USA – an event that needs no introduction – and one that isn’t tracked live on the UTMB Live website, but on the Western States one.
